Cinco de Mayo with Locarno band at Vancouver Fan Club

A Cinco de Mayo bash featuring Locarno band on May 5th 2013 5pm - 8 pm. at Vancouver Fan Club.

Locarno is the Latin project of Paperboys frontman Tom Landa. The music, like him, is part Mexican but with strong doses of Cuban Son, Folk Music, Pop and Funk. There are threads of Son Jarocho and Salsa but the songs are more edgy and contemporary than that.   (Source: excerpt from Bio of Locarno FB Page)

TRAVESÍA

Journey of the Grey Whale

Presented by Science World at TELUS World of Science

Travesía - Journey of the Grey Whale starts on February 1st in Vancouver presented by Science World at TELUS World of Science. This is a travelling exhibition of contemporary art and science communication  that  allows the public to get a deep insight of the life and characteristics of the magnificent gray whale.

The exhibition is part of the Gray Whale Project, a initiative that began in Mexico and joins efforts with USA and Canada that seeks to promote the conservation of gray whales, to showcase the magnificent scenery of the natural habitats and cultural traits of central Baja California, and to promote national and international tourism to the gray whale sanctuaries in Mexico, in that way supporting the local communities that share their homeland with the gray whales.
